This is a personally run travel blog, by two individuals who love Portugal.

Guide2Portugal is a travel blog and not an official government website, or official tourism board for Portugal. All information on this website is supplied in good faith, and is correct to the best of our knowledge however we accept no responsibility for any of this information being factual. We advise confirming with official websites, local attractions, tourism boards and the like to find correct pricing, opening times, visa restrictions and any further information. By using this website you agree that Guide2Portugal can not be held responsible for any use of the information by you, or any incorrect information found.

We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, as to the accuracy, completeness or adequacy of the information in any of the content. We also (to the extent permitted by law) shall not be liable for any losses or damages arising from the use of, or reliance on, the information on this website.

Copyright

The majority of images on Guide2Portugal are copyright to us, to photographer Daniel James. Occasionally we may use stock photos or images from hotels, these will be marked with those details either in the caption below, or in the data of the website. No images, video or text of this website may be reproduced in full or in part without our prior written permission. We use an automated service to trace illegal use of imagery, this external company then manages any copyright infringements with their legal teams. Using a photo without permission is often €100’s+ more expensive than buying one from a stock website. Our images are available for licensing, and you can email dan [at] dmportugal.com to request these. 

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

Comments are held in moderation, and are posted live at the discretion of the moderator. 

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Guide2Portugal is originally written in English, and then manually translated to European Portuguese by our team. Our Spanish, French, German and Dutch sections are automatically translated to provide the information to as many people as possible in their native languages, however those pages are not checked by a native speaker. As such, we can take no responsibility for any errors, imitations, or incorrect translations that occur, and we advise you to take these pages for what they are, an automatically translated version of the original content.

This website uses adverts, affiliate links, and various other marketing platforms to monetise. You can learn more about how this works on our affiliate and marketing disclosure page. While we use cookies to track behaviours when they follow these links to other website, once on external website those individual websites have their own cookie and privacy policies you should check. We take no responsibility for third party websites.

Who we share your data with

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
